Sean Hennessey is the founder and chief executive office of Lodging Investment Advisors, a firm dedicated to providing high-quality counseling services to institutional investors, lenders, and other key players in the hotel industry. Founded in 2004, clients include Marriott International, Host Marriott, Prudential Real Estate Investors, JP Morgan Fleming, iStar Financial, National Park Service and others. Sean has recently formed Lodging Investors LLC to take direct ownership positions in hotels.

Prior to forming his own companies, Sean was a leading consultant and broker for more than 20 years. Sean began his career in daily operations with companies such as Marriott, Disney World, and numerous restaurants. Sean graduated from Johnson & Wales in 1979 with an A.S. degree in Culinary Arts, followed by a B.S. degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University in 1983.

Sean is co-chair of the Lodging Industry Investment Council, serves of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants and the Counselors of Real Estate. He is active with the ITM Hospitality Fund, which provides free hotel rooms for needy families of patients traveling to New York City for critical medial care.

A recognized expert, Sean has appeared on television shows such as CNN Headline News and MSNBC, and radio programs such as National Public Radio and Bloomberg News. He has been quoted by the Wall Street Journal, Barrons, The New York Times, and virtually all hotel trade journals. He has spoken at the major hotel industry investment conferences, as well as to such groups as the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Hennessey has written numerous articles on a variety of hotel topics. He prepared, on behalf of the American Hotel & Lodging Association, the Lodging Industry Mortgage Performance Report, and contributed to Hotel Investments: Issues and Perspectives, 3rd ed. He also contributed a chapter to the Business Enterprise Valuation: An Anthology for the Appraisal Institute.


Cheryl Boyer is the President of Lodging Investment Advisors and has over 15 years of experience in hospitality-related consulting, appraisal and finance. Prior to joining Lodging Investment Advisors Cheryl was the Practice Leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Hospitality and Leisure Group in New York where she specialized in providing due diligence services for major transactions. Previously Cheryl was a Managing Director in Insignia Hotel Partners’ Capital Markets group where she worked with clients on a variety of assignments including debt and equity financing, asset management and capital and asset advisory projects. She has additional hotel consulting experience with Landauer Associates and Laventhol & Horwath and daily hotel operations experience with InterContinental Hotels and Accor. Cheryl graduated from Cornell University with a B.S in Hotel Administration in 1987.

Cheryl is member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE). She is also a member of the Lodging Industry Investment Council, a founding member of the Women’s Hospitality Investment Network and a past president of the Cornell Hotel Society.

Cheryl has authored several articles on hospitality and finance topics that have appeared in hotel and real estate industry publications. She has also been quoted in the trade and popular press including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Hotel Motel Management, Hotel Business, and Real Estate Forum. Cheryl has been a teacher at New York University's Center for Hospitality Industry Studies and has been a guest lecturer at Cornell University.


Edward Hennessey joined Lodging Advisors to assist in the formation of Lodging Investors, which will focus solely on equity investments with select investment partners.

Prior to joining Lodging Advisors, Ed was a Vice President at JP Morgan Investment Management engaged in the acquisition, financing, management and disposition of institutional grade real estate.

His experience includes over 20 years in commercial real estate including previous positions as Vice President at Equitable Life Insurance and as a Principal at Lend Lease Investment Management. Most recently, at JP Morgan, he was responsible for portfolio assets totaling $1.6 billion in value.

He has extensive experience in all aspects of joint venture investments and will focus on pursuing joint venture investment opportunities where above market returns can be achieved through repositioning or redeveloping assets.
